KOIN: Art Edwards to Dayside Anchor

Submitted by Nicole on Sat, 06/21/2008 - 10:29am.

I'm surprised nobody has posted this. Koin.com has Mike Donahue's replacement on its site. His name is Art Edwards, and he has connections to the Portland area.

[Lynn here--redid the headline and linked the long URL. Thanks, Nicole. Edwards is still on WDIV's website as of this morning; Edwards was a street reporter there for eight or so years and has 20 years in the biz. Art seems to have lost some hair on the way from WDIV to KOIN. :) Welcome to the market, Art. I'm sure the traditional OMI bashfest will begin momentarily. Let me just say don't take it as this writer's opinion, and that it happens to everyone, so don't take it personally, either.]

Good Morning Northwest

Submitted by Nicole on Mon, 04/07/2008 - 7:54pm.

Anyone see Good Morning Northwest today? I didn't know Astoria was a cruise destination. Wow! Good story. I think I will go check Astoria out. It seems like a happening town, instead of the "sleepy" town it once was.

I don't know if anyone knew this or not, but there is a new show called Axe Men, based in Astoria debuting 10:00 tonight on History Channel. My cousin knows some of the people and says it is good.

Anyone seen this? Old PDX TV Clips

Submitted by Nicole on Tue, 01/30/2007 - 11:58am.

Have any of you seen this site? I did a search for Portland TV stations the other day and came across this. http://platypuscomix.cartoonsdammit.com/fpo/videos/

It is old TV clips, from the 80's and 90's. It even has old clips of Richard Ross, who anchored KATU News years ago. Check out the site, its really interesting! Thought you might be interested as well.

[Given a more descriptive title.--L]

A need for a volunteer?

Submitted by Nicole on Wed, 01/10/2007 - 6:51pm.

Okay, I hope I am not offending anyone with my questions. If so, please let me know. I like this site and don't want anyone unhappy with me. I just don't know who else to ask these?

Okay, here goes...Do the TV stations have a need for volunteers? If so, how does one get involved? I remember years ago, KATU had their 2 On Yourside consumer hotline and was told they were volunteers.

I am very interested in TV and in particular the Portland stations and would love to get involved some how.

Thanks!

Giving back

Submitted by Nicole on Tue, 01/09/2007 - 6:51pm.

Can someone answer this for me please? Okay, here goes. The Portland stations want my viewing correct? When are they going to give something back to me? I would like to see how the stations work. I would love to tour a station some day, why don't they give tours? Why don't their people make appearances at community events? Yet, they want my viewing, they should at least give something to me in return. Anyone agree? Disagree? KOIN's slogan is "Bringing News Home", when are they going to actually bring it to me? I don't feel any of the stations are.

By the way, I love this site.
