Publishers take credit on the backs of reporters

Mark Garber, publisher of the Gresham Outlook and a Pamplin vice president, was recently given a top honor by Mount Hood Community College for all the paper's financial and editorial support under his watch.

Why is it that publishers always get the credit for the work done by their reporters and why doesn't more of that money go to the reporters rather than tax-supported colleges? Garber and Pamplin do not give the reporters regular raises and some have not had raises for several years, yet all of Pamplin's publishers get big bonuses and they get to spend money in the communities to make themselves look good.

Isn't it about time for Pamplin to pay his reporter's livable wages?
