The switch to a younger/cheaper workforce is universal in TV news these days. Only a very ignorant person would suggest that it's only happening at KPTV. Just look at other stations in town... have you not read all the comments about KOIN/Montecito/SJL and how cheap they are? Or Fisher's cheapness at KATU? The only real difference is that KPTV's ratings are going up while the others' have tanked or are tanking.
And to those of you who bemoan the younger/cheaper workers, take note of this: KPTV's 10pm news is the top-choice for late news watchers, while KPTV's Good Day Oregon is #1 (and pulling away from KGW) in the morning. Yet all this is accomplished with a young/cheap workforce. How do you like them apples?
