Journalist vs. Public offical

Im not a journalist or a elected public offical, so I dont know. However, elected public officals such as sherriff and governor are held to ethical standards to respect the law and required to report these issues. Are Journalists held to the same ethical and legal standard? Meaning are Journalists required to tell if a law is broken? I wouldnt think so since they are not elected officals holding a office.

As for Lars, he didnt start this. I believe he is just holding the same standards Gusto is getting to our governor.
