I'm not sure either, Rick. In some cases it might be to make the station appear more diverse (even if it's not). I have a cousin who once worked in the biz as a reporter for a TV station in Alaska.
Even though he doesn't have a drop of Hispanic blood, the station made him use "Rodriguez" for his on-air last name.
