I don't know the specifics; but Koin's desk has been ravaged by cost-cutting and cutbacks. My guess is they got it wrong. As is usually the case in these sorts of things, a phone call was probably not made to confirm the information. Regardless of what happened, sticking a reporter live at the airport at 5am [when it's dark and you can't see much of anything] is a poor use of morning news resources and is one of the reasons Koin's am ratings [along with most other shows] are in the toilet.

Where did the other stations put their live crews in the morning?
