It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that KOIN has been a royal mess for a very long time. Growing up in Portland, I can easily remember the days when KOIN (Newsroom 6) was a powerhouse. If there is anyone to blame for the pathetic state of affairs at KOIN, it's the ownership. They have sucked the place dry. There is little if any money to compete successfully with the likes of KGW, KATU or KPTV.

With regard to Lynn Huston, I have to echo LynnS's comments. Lynn Huston was not ready for Portland. He seemed completely out of place both anchoring the morning/noon news as well as reporting for Good Morning Northwest. When compared to AM reporters Wilson Chow and Jennifer Iveson at KGW or Mark Glyzewski on KPTV, he doesn't make the grade. This doesn't mean he's a bad reporter or anchor, but it simply means he was ill suited for KOIN, AM news and Portland.

I sincerely believe strong reporting by the four TV news operations in Portland is what we all would like to see. Hopefully, KOIN can find dig itself out of this mess and regain some of its former glory.
