I just want to make a point here. The question of who sent Lynn to the airport had no bearing on his dismissal (or quitting depending on who you ask). The ND was furious because his poor judgement cost KOIN an interview with Laura Bush. This was just the latest in a long line of poor decisions made by Lynn Huston. As for the question of his "style" not fitting Portland, that is not why he was unpopular at KOIN. He was constantly making factual errors, was terribly unorganized when it came to setting up stories and often mangled the English language (a popular Lynn story is his insistence that cul-de-sac was pronounced cul-de-saw). And despite all these shortcomings, the man thought he was Ed Murrow. Yes, he has a nice voice. Yes, he has been in the business a long time. But that's it. That doesn't make him Ed Murrow- it makes him Ted Baxter. Only not as funny. From my dealings with him, it's clear that he's not a mean spirited guy, but he is basically incompetent. I wish him well in the future, but from what I understand, KOIN is not the first station he has left on bad terms.
