Speculation is running rampant over on PDXRadio.com that Tim McNamara's going to flip Jammin' 95 to all sports. ESPN, Jim Rome, the Blazers, the Ducks, the Seahawks and Westwood One. It would mean the demise of hip-hop dominant rhythmic CHR as a format on the Portland dial.
All Sports on 95.5?
Good- if only to rid the airways of the truly awful "Playhouse" morning show. They do a video on Comcast and the participants-
especially PK and the "Scooter" characters, are completely revolting.
The "humor" is truly that of a junior high school male complete with zits. This PK character is a total moron- and he thinks he's so cool and such a dude! Eee-yuck!
Beyond that, I don't get hip hop and rap. 99% of it is stupid
crap- sure didn't see this coming. Now in my day.....
Look at me, I'm old! I don't get anything the kids are into these days! Color television? Telephones without cords? Tube socks? We have to nip this in the bud! Next, they'll be dancing!
ps - I also hate the Playhouse show.
You know what, before you start downing a music style, try understanding it first....apparently, you must be a coward, or a spineless individual to make a stab at a culture AND music format, and not even be man or woman enough to include your name with your comment. Hip-hop has a long and rich history, and the fact that you're too narrow minded to look into something before you knock it does not make hip-hop, rap, and R&B "crap" - It just makes you a sad, bland person with no sense of diversity or culture
I like how the sheep followers of hip-hop always attack others for being narrow minded. In reality, it's the other way around. The only time a hip-hop/rap "musician" even looks at any other genre of music is when he wants to "sample" it. There are very few exceptions, but most are incapable of writing their own songs from scratch. I'm not talking about turntable scratching either. Using auto-tune in the studio doesn't make you a good singer either.

Don't criticize stuff you don't understand. I'm not a huge rap fan, but there is rap I like and some I absolutely love. Sampling is audio collage; a well-done sample completely changes the tenor and meaning of the original. Your criticism is like criticizing Picasso and Braque for using collage techniques rather than for the content of their art. I'm not saying all rap is high art; 90% of everything is crap as the old rule says. I'm saying that sampling is not plagiarism; it's a legitimate technique.
Listen, you don't like rap? That's fine, they don't make it for you. :)

to 1080 the Fan. If they lost ESPN, and were left with just Dan Patrick and their nonsense local show. This could be the beginning of the end of that station.
I have a hard time fathoming that an all-sports station could produce the kind of revenue that Jammin is, especially with ad dollars split with 1080. The thinking must be that 1080 would eventually go away and 95.5 would get the whole sports pie.

Cowherd... Rome... Tirico... Stephen A. Smith... Canzano... Blazers... Ducks... Seahawks... on a stick that is 100,000 watts in stereo?
That's a sports station that would bill $8 million a year.
The Fan would be gone in six months if this happens.

I hope 1080 goes away. First they started playing Jim Rome on a one hour delay so we could get ALL four hours of "The Herd." Then they take him off the air all together and replace him with one of the most boring dudes in the business, Dan Patrick. I wont listen to it anymore. Bring back Rome! He may annoy some, but he asks the real questions and speaks his mind. You gotta love that.
We do need a true sports station in Portland that airs what the fans want to hear; not some offended 'monkey' wants to plug in to. Rome's rants are entertaining and his interviews are compelling to sports fans. As a national broadcaster, he does a far better job covering Oregon players and teams than the local hacks on 1080 the "NON-fan" station.

ive been hearing alot of shit talkin bout the playhouse and hiphop on jammin, the ppl talkin shit just haters fuck this new talk show comin in got me heated when i heard bout it all i listen to is jammin and the playhouse in the morning now all there is left is 100 and movin cant even go through the summer without enjoyin jammin one last summer, hope the rumors of movin flippin to jammin is true and for the playhouse as well.
everyone @ the fan should thank Dennis "the monkey" Glasgow for not having a job in 5 months. his insistance on "the herd" being 4 hours,big suck being on the air ,and taking a fat pay day 2 play mariner games and pre-games is why this move was a no brainer 4 the vulcans.95.5 will swallow the non-fan quickly.Rome and suck-canic free afternoons is all i need 2 never need 1080 again. may want to hire issac 2 take over mornings when katy and kenny bomb!
