SPJ Does Poor Job of Publicizing

I'm a member of SPJ and I learned about this event from Oregon Media Insiders. This is just the latest example of poorly publicized SPJ events in Oregon. At least let the membership know about upcoming events. C'mon folks! These things aren't supposed to be covert events.

When I arrived in Portland in 2005, I called and emailed multiple SPJ members seeking to get involved with the local chapter as I'd been with my previous SPJ chapter, but couldn't get a response for anyone -- so I what should I expect when it comes to events?
