Speaking strictly as a news and tv consumer here, my impression is that each award speaks to different parts of the mission: the Emmy means you're winning for overall quality, and the Murrow means you're putting out solid news.

Being able to say both says you got one really slick operation there.

Yes, I realize that the awards are actually evaluated by and awarded by the broadcast literati. Still, it's a question of perception, not reality.
