My wife really likes Julia's reporting and anchoring. I think she's fine, too, but if she'd rather trade her mic for a still camera, then we wish her the best. I guess.

Everytime I saw her on TV it always appeared she was on some pretty heavy tranquilizers... Yeah, that's probably cause she works like 23 hours a day. Seriously, Julia at 5AM and Julia again at night with features during the day. It's a wonder she could stay awake at all. Yes, I am leaving KATU! It was a mutual decision between both parties and I am really excited to start a new career. I love forecasting, but that schedule just killed me. I feel for the person who takes it over because the turn-around from Saturday night to Sunday morning along with the split 12 hour shifts really aren't fun. Plus, you never really feel like you get very good at any ONE thing. Reporter-weather-reporter-weather.... KATU is a great place with fabulous people and its product is getting better and better all the time. I really hope they continue to grow. KATU has been so good to me in many, many ways. And the photographers, technical and behind-the-scenes folks that I have worked with, I adore! They are amazing, talented and generous people. Everyone there is. I wish all of them the best, and I walk away knowing I gave TV a pretty good 11 year run. I will miss so many things. Onward! It's time to start something new, fresh and wonderful. I am thrilled (and scared to death) to start my own business, become an entrepreneur and chart my own path, but I can't tell you how liberating it is to be your own boss. I love potrait photography and I love working with babies, kids and families. Finally, it feels like I'm making a direct and positive difference in people's lives. Hopefully, I can actually make a living at it. It's a bit un-nerving to take this leap, but if I don't do it now then I'll pick at myself later for not trying. Who knows what the future holds? We'll see. For now, TV and I respectfully & graciously go our separate ways. Thanks to those of you who have rooted for me. I really appreciate it. :-) To those of you who don't, sorry I couldn't make you happy. I guess you can't win them all. I tried the best I could. C u all around! Yes, I am leaving KATU! Maybe I'm just getting old (maybe it's those wrinkles you're seeing in my eyes! LOL)! You are awesome, good luck on your new business. Best of luck to you, I always thought you did a great job. I am sure your new venture will do nothing but great! Julia was the first person to see when I moved this country in 2004. Now I have my wife and son who was born as American citizen, our family enjoyed to see you on TV. Believing in move ahead is the important matter as a humanbeing, I really respect Julia's move. I really miss to see Julia on TV though. Yes, I am leaving KATU! I have two friends who worked at KATU. This statement above was sugar coated as not to burn any bridges. Some arent treated very well at KATU. Politics I guess. Hope you have a sucessful business Julia. I had the pleasure of working with her when she first arrived in Portland. She's done a good job, you can't knock her for that. She has worked some long hours, but hey, if you work in this industry, I think its safe to say that we've all had to work long hours. Julia is a good person and I wish her well with her new career. One more example of another quality KATU personality leaving the fold. She does a great job interacting with Susan Harding on the Saturday and Sunday morning news. But to work such awful hours – that would really suck. I always felt sorry for her. No partying for Julia on the weekends. Now she can resume a normal weekend schedule. I can’t blame her for seeking a new career outside television. Best of luck to her. Damn, there goes the hottest reporter in the Portland News Scene. why would you say somthing so negative about anybody? I don't know her, or care to know you, but I just think it's kind of weird. You know, "...if you don't have something nice to say..." etc. You've put with a crappy schedule for way too long. Best of luck to you in a field where you clearly have talent. Julia, I am sorry to see you leave. I thought they were finally going to get it right over at KATU and again a dissapointment. I used to see you on tv during the week and then you went to weekends and then your gone. I was hoping you would get the lead anchor role. Findawg I will miss seeing Julia on the KATU newscast. I wish Julia all the luck in the world. I'd let her take photographs of my children. I just saw the end of KATU's newscast. They did a wonderful tribute to Julia Radlick. What a dignified sendoff. That's so appropriate, and caring, and it was really cool to see a station embrace someone who has decided to leave the fold. Julia has been a wonderful part of the newscast, and I've welcomed her into my home as the voice on weather on weekends. I wonder why KATU didn't do the same for Grant McOmie though. Anyone know? You fire a guy and you're not allowed to give him dignity? I also watched the send-off last night. Had no idea you were leaving. It's definitely a loss for KATU and us. I've been enjoying your segments since you first joined KATU. I've watched you battling allergies and a persistent flu (or something) that should have had you doing bed rest rather than work. Congratulations on your forward (and courageous) move into unchartered waters. Hopefully, name recognition will generate some business for you to get you started. I'm sure that you will be as professional with a camera as you have been with all of your other endeavors. -burton I missed the send-off piece. Is it on KATU.com? I can't find it...... Julia, it's nice of you to post here. As I said in post #1 of this thread, you will be sorely missed. Julia always struck me as having more intellectual gravitas than your average pretty face on TV. I have no way of knowing for sure but I suspect she was greatly underutilized. I'm sorry she's leaving but wish her all the best. MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE BOTH ENJOYED JULIA SINCE SHE FIRST CAME TO KATU AND DID THE EARLY MORNING SEGMENTS. WE USUALLY START WATCHING AT 5 AM AND ENJOYED JULIA'S MORNING COMMENTARY AND THOUGHT SHE SHOULD HAVE HAD PRIME HOURS. HER SENSE OF HUMOR STARTED OUR MORNING ON A GOOD NOTE AND WE CHUCKLED ABOUT HER CONSTANTLY BEING PULLED OVER BY THE POLICE ON HER WAY TO WORK AND HER BANTER ABOUT WONDERING IF THERE WAS REALLY ANYONE OUT THERE WATCHING AT THAT UNGODLY HOUR OF THE MORNING. WE WATCHED AND WE ENJOYED AND WE WILL TRULY MISS YOU. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY; THAT IS MY LOVE ALSO...LANDSCAPE THOUGH - NOT PEOPLE. MY DAUGHTER DOES FAMILY PHOTOS EVERY YEAR AND I WILL STEER HER YOUR WAY. TRACY I was wondering why she got stuck in the snow storm in government camp. That should be a rookie assignment. It's unlike me to feel loss when a news personality departs, but I'm quickly missing Julia's spontaneous laughter (read guffaws:-), shirtsleeve emotion and natural beauty (Julia, thanks SO, SO MUCH for not glamming up). I won't even go on re her professionalism, intelligence, enthusiasm, compassion and insightful, telling asides... Flawless? No, thank God! Her genuine approach to the camera was like having a best friend or sister delivering the news and weather - amazing! As a result, her transparency in form and spirit have produced indelible memories of actual presence, as though she was in the room. Thank you, Julia, for sharing yourself with us these past 11 years and best wishes for all adventures to come! Keep on rockin' girl! You inspire! Gary Julia ~ It took a little time to realize something (you) was missing on the weekend broadcasts. Vacation? No. Ice dance event? No. Different schedule? No. Surely not...not on the air anymore? I had to "google" to find out exactly what happened. I have to say you brought a little sunshine (pun intended! ha! ha!) to my weekends and looked ever-so forward to seeing you on the tube. Thank you very much!! I know the schedule was a killer though! I sure wish you the best! Will you please post your new biz? If I ever have the need for your services I'll look you up first! My very best, PS: Funny thing....I always had to check out the third-finger-left-hand to see what your status was! Ha! Ha!
