Wilson Chow leaving NWCN/KGW

Some news from NWCN:

Quote:
This is another note of mixed emotions about a soon-to-be-departing member of NWCN and KGW. Wilson Chow, is leaving our operations to take a position with the Boeing Company, with his last day being Friday, May 9.

Rod Gramer and I cannot express how instrumental Wilson has been in the success of the Portland Bureau operation over the last three years and his major contribution to the continuing strength of KGW's news team. He has been valued for his hustle, enterprise, early-adapting web work and his handling of breaking news no matter when or where.

This new job marks a major change in direction for Wilson, but I know he will bring his usual proactive persistence to the opportunity and will represent Belo well going forward.

Please give him your congratulations and best wishes.

Good luck Wilson.

I agree with these sentiments. Wilson has been great reporting for both NWCN and KGW.

Good luck!

I'm sorry to see Wilson Chow leaving KGW/NWCN. Chow was a great reporter while he worked in Spokane for BELO shop KREM 2. He grew as a reporter while working for KGW and NWCN and it's sad to see him leave the business. Best of luck to you Wilson! Congrats on the new job.

sorry off topic here. Is Jennifer Iveson gone?

She is gone. So is Nancy Francis. Wilson is the third on-air person in a row to not only leave KGW but TV news! What's happening KGW?

After spending that much time at KGW, nancy francis finally discoverd what all "old-timers" eventually do. television news is a cesspool designed to attract revenue. Nothing more - nothing less.

Nancy had a passion for teaching and finally decided to pursue it. She loved the TV news "cesspool" -- that's why she stayed at a great station for so long.

Good luck Wilson!

I can't believe how long you lasted after how they've treated you.

You've been a trooper shunted off to the graveyard of worthless live vobs in the pre-dawn hours. The Skyline overpass won't be the same without you.

Wilson agreed to the early morning shift. He worked the morning show and then shot stories for NWCN. What did KGW do that was so bad?

I’m really sorry to hear of Wilson Chow’s decision to leave NWCN and KGW. He’s an excellent reporter with a great presence and does an exceptional job delivering news in a live format. What surprises me is that he’s leaving for Boeing – I always figured he’s end up reporting for KING 5. Best of luck to him.

The people who truly have the talent and this job just comes naturally, always end up quitting the business?

And today is Wilson's last day!

I am so, so, so sad to see Wilson Chow leave KGW. He was my ONLY reason for getting up in the ungodly hours to watch THAT news channel. My heart died when I realized he was gone for good. KGW just isn't the same without him, a great eye candy and, most importantly, a wondrous reporter. I hope he's happy at Boeing. May life treat you well, Wilson! I will always miss you!

It took you 3 months to notice him gone?

I realized he was gone after a week of not seeing him on air. I'm only posting here three months after his leave because I just found this bloody web site, mind you.

"This new job marks a major change in direction for Wilson..."

Definitely a brilliant insight by BELO management. Wilson saw the BELO future and it appeared dim. Better to shill for Boeing what with their Defense contracting et al.
