It was just found out this afternoon that Hillary Clinton will be conducting a Town Hall meeting broadcast live on KGW this coming Friday, May 16th, at 7pm. This will be in their studio A and a 5 camera shoot. Additional bleachers are being added (rented) for this event. Hillary's people were buzzing around today and the secret service start buzzing around tomorrow. Details will be reveled when they become available. ( topics: KGW-TV )
Yeah, don't they? Maybe they'll air his interview from last week over and over for an hour. How can News Director Rod Gramer justify this? He certainly has not had his newsroom cover Obama live, un-edited. How incredibly biased. Do your homework before you make such a dumb comment. >If not, we'll know he doesn't consider Oregon that important. Or maybe he doesn't consider KGW that important. Sen. Clinton repeatedly asked Sen. Obama to a televised debate in Oregon - he declined. That would have been the best venue for equal time. Greetings all, Friday at 7? She will be up against live Jeopardy, and Entertainment Tonight. Plus, 50% of Oregonians go out to dinner on Fridays. It won't help her imho. I think they will have a hard time filling those "extra seats!" I think it's unfair to claim that Obama hasn't received ample coverage from the local media. The media have been very kind to Senator Obama, Senator Clinton, former President Clinton and Chelsea Clinton. Had Senator Obama felt the race in Oregon was going to be competitive, maybe he would have taken KGW up on its offer of free air time for an audience give and take. Plus of course Senator Clinton wanted to debate Senator Obama in Oregon, but he declined. Too, I think KGW did a really good job of digging out old archive footage of the late Senator Robert Kennedy campaigning in Oregon. The last time the Oregon primary had any real relevance in the presidential nominating race was 1968, the year of my birth. Just for the record, Robert Kennedy lost the Oregon Democratic Primary to another anti-Vietnam war Democrat, Senator Eugene McCarthy. I just don't get it. If I were candidate and believe my qualification, boy, I would grab any opportunity offered to take any challenges to show my muscle to the public. You got to market the item if you really believe in it. In real life, everybody likes the ones with strength not weakness, noboyd likes the whimps. Just a matter of face. Courage plays a big role, it helps earning respect even getting defeated at the end. Avoiding being face to face with the opponent is a sign of weakness. It does not impressive me. Why can't Obama face Hillary to debate real issues especially in this wel known progressive state. Voters don't necessarily agree with the candidates but would definitely appreciate their time and efforts towards the state they are campaigning. I just don't think Oregon would give stupid questions. when you don't have to. Obama doesn't have to. It gives her publicity and credence at a time he doesn't want to give her either. I'm not saying good or bad, I'm just sayin'. ----- We have had too many debates this season. There is nothing new to learn....just debate the same old topics again. A real debate such as we learned when we went to school might be better but that just doesn't happen. What is there to debate between Clinton and Obama anyway. They are basically the same on positions, neither has said what will really work regarding energy, they are just putting temporary patches on the problem, and their other stands are pretty close to the same. People are going to choose, or have chosen, between those two based on how well they like that individual and what their tv persona is. This is really one of the worst elections for candidates that we have had to choose from for a long time. All three candidates are basically the same and they don't really have much to say other than pandering to the audience of the week. The local ones aren't much different. All I have heard from most of them is what is wrong with their opponent. No one is giving me a good reason why I should vote for them. Because they hate Bush isn't a good reason to vote for someone. He ain't running. Tell me what you are going to do........ The reason Hillary's people wanted more debates is they'd hoped to force an error by Barack that could be decisive for superdelegates. But the time for that is past. She's much more conciliatory, now, and that's a tipoff to the end game--she agrees to endorse Barack in return for help in retiring her substantial campaign debt. As one whose Obama vote was in the mail two weeks ago, I have to say that Hillary was impressive as hell these last few days, in South Dakota and in Oregon. Her intelligence and wide-ranging knowledge really come through, in smaller settings. Get her away from shouting her talking points, and you see just how capable she is. I'd be huge for Hillary if it weren't for the fact that we're sorely in need of the "great communicator" that Barack Obama is---his race speech was historic, and his presidency will be an opportunity for reconciliation and alignment. Unless the rumors that are wishfully floating on the rightie blogs actually turn out to be true, namely that there's a Jeremiah Wright-style video ready to erupt--starring Michelle Obama. Hillary may yet be called upon. By the way, for Lars or anyone like him who might be reading, it's the "Democratic Party." Be respectful and use the proper name. Not the Democrat Party. Anyone who uses that phrase is immediately discredited in the eyes of any objective individual. "Democrat Party" was the slur used repeatedly by that snarling un-American bastard Joe McCarthy.
