I like your style... this was a spot-on analysis.

I'll add another comment about the morning news race between KGW and KPTV. From what I hear from the folks who work on KPTV's GDO, they've seen their staffing levels cut significantly due to attrition and reassignments & shuffling in support of the new 4pm show. Those who are left deal with a grueling workload. Meanwhile, KGW continues to add resources and staff positions to their Sunrise show... which is 40% shorter (and less taxing) than KPTV's 4.5 hour beast. The result is 2 book victories in a row for KGW. KPTV's GDO crew may be getting tired and worn out. That, combined with KPTV's management skimping on (staff) spending, could be the reason why KGW is pulling ahead.

Also, imagine what could happen this summer when KGW gets lots of "buzz" once they move their Sunrise show into the new Pioneer Square studio downtown. I believe that if KPTV doesn't act to beef-up GDO again (to KGW's level or more), then they risk seeing KGW pull away into clear front-runner status in the morning.
