So-let me get this straight: If "it's all about the lead-in", then KGW's ratings dominance IN THE PAST must have been predicated on NBC programming, and NOT THEIR OWN PROWESS/News Savvy, right? Why give them any credit for winning and building a news lead over others during those NBC dominance years? Am I understanding you correctly here?

That said---QUIT WITH THE KOIN BASHING! They won the ratings in a given time slot, just as KGW has for years. Period. Whether they had a witch doctor cast a spell, or did a war dance before every show in the basement at 222 SW Columbia, or had a solid lead-in----they got it done. They were GOOD ENOUGH TO HOLD THE VIEWERS--even increased share a lot off their leads-ins.
In the end, give credit where it's due: KOIN has done a lot despite running the race with one leg cut off, and the other one missing three toes on its foot.
Bean counters/sales people/media buyers just want numbers. KOIN delivered for that 1/2 hour. Read it and weep, you pompous, self righteous KGW sycophant.
And no--I'm not KOIN employee--don;t even play one on TV.
