You wouldn't want a skilled profession hired because they were paid less, because we place so much emphasis on medical or dental degrees. While you seem to think that someone who most likely has the same degree as you who is in their start in a career where MANY people walk in and out of everyday. Where'd you get your start, secondly, WHEN did you get your start? You had to get it somewhere and I'm sorry if you had to work your way for years doing stories about dog shows or rodeos to get where you're at. The way I see it. A degree is a degree, it proves you can go to college for at least 4 years and then obtain mountains of debt. The newsroom is winning in many timeslots and with less overhead. The 'young' people I see on the news allows me to feel more connected in my age demo, which is the most targeted demo, because we're young. But truly, I watch KPTV at night because its on at Ten and I don't have to be up until 11:30 to get my full news. I can go to bed at 10:30 and still get a full nights rest. I get my news during the day from Reuters or the AP newsflash. Not by any local station. Sad for the local stations, but KPTV's website is too ad-ridden and KGW's is to POPup ridden. Sad.

I'm guessing you must be one the young fresh idea with no experience. Good for you.
I would not want a young dentist/doctor with no experience who was hired because he was cheap. Even if he had fresh ideas.
