First, does Shauna really need the money? If I planned to make a career as a real journalist, I wouldn't be a spokesperson for products in commercials or other businesses. There're too many ways this can come back to haunt you, no matter how innocent the business seems at the time. (The people who are confirmed Lars-haters love to point out the commercials he does for various businesses.)
And secondly, if I were the News Manager, I would prohibit my news people from being involved in anything other than the News Show. This includes roles as hosts for Parade coverage or other shows which are entertainment-oriented, game shows and the like. I remember one of the stations some time ago had their news people affiliated with Providence Medical in commercials/public service announcements. Murphy's Law pounced a week or so later and the news people were covering a scandal within the Providence organization. Pardon my fuzzy memory, but someone else likely can recall the details.
