If you're not a TV station, not that big a deal. But if you **are** a TV station, and your call letters are "K***," you don't want a rival TV station owning K***.tv, or anyone else owning it either, even if you yourself don't intend to use it. You want a Russian company putting up the worst kind of porn on K***.tv? And lest you think that's an exaggeration, there are Russian squatters that do exactly that; it's happened to people in my direct acquaintance (ie, not friends of friends but people I help out with Internet troubles). Happens all the time with expired domains especially. Their hope is to embarrass you into buying back the domain for some exorbitant fee ($2,000 in one case I was involved in), and if they don't, well, they've got a good domain full of porn and that'll make them some money either way.
