URLs are much less important these days. There are enough top level domains out there (.com, .org,.tv, etc) that most people just go to Google first so they get to the right place. Especially now that Icann is loosening restrictions on top level domains (there will soon be a lot more).
Will it make KATU look a little silly if KATU.tv gets snapped up? Maybe. But it won't mean any less traffic to the KATU site.
