Hunter Thompson said it best many years ago:
"The TV business is uglier than most things. It is normally perceived as some kind of cruel and shallow money trench through the heart of the journalism industry, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs, for no good reason."
Unfortunately, in Thompson's time there were few women, if any, in TV news, so his quote may seem out of date or perhaps a touch mysoginistic. However, the underlying reality of his idea is as true (perhaps more so) now than it was when he originally formulated it.
