Anybody can sue. That doesn't mean they'll win. My bet is that Alan will settle for a few less dollars than the 1.4 million he's asking for. New Vision will write him a check to make him and his lawsuit go away. It's typical of Alan that he would use other KOINers (Ed, Kacey) to make his case. Alan was one of the main weapons of mass destruction during the SJL shakedown. He was a strange, do-nothing type guy, who never missed an opportunity to screw the people under his watch, if it was better for him, or his buddy Lynn Huston. A lot of bosses are like that. Alan took it to another level. Those still there from the Alan era would NOT be happy to see him come back, not that it would ever happen.

As for Kacey Montoya, or ByTheWay or Aliece or whatever, she appears to do a good job on the air, and even kept a mostly straight face when she did the "Bikini Coffee Girls" story the other day. It makes no difference to me if she used to do (almost) nude modeling. So what? That doesn't mean she can't be a good tv news reporter. Those pictures, though racy, just say that she's attractive enough to make money off her looks. As long as she's not doing the bikini stuff any more, I don't see why even Alan would care. For him to claim that he objected to her hiring for that reason, and the fact that she was relatively inexperienced is hypocritical. The few hires that Alan did make were also people from tiny markets with little experience, who came cheap.

Finally, Ed, who was dumped secretly and unceremoniously. It's a sad fact of broadcast news life that as your age and salary grows, you become a target. But, the race discrimination part of it doesn't ring true. Ken Boddie has been there 20 years. Art Edwards, the new morning anchor, is black, and so is Jessica Morkert. The 11:00 reporter is Asian.
This was more about age, health, salary,and bad timing with Whelan's contract expiring, especially with sports lucky to get a couple of minutes every night. Alan shouldn't have played the race card, just to make the evil owners look even worse.
