I worked at KOIN until recently. Current KOIN employees will know who I am.
Jeff Alan? Not competent. The guy didn't have a clue what he was doing, but bragged about some frickin' book he once wrote. Always had an excuse why the KOIN news ratings sucked, but never took responsibility for any of the problems. Was noted for his habit of leaving the station at 5:30pm during the 5p newscast.
...sorta like a football coach leaving in the middle of a game. It just ain't done.
(and Jeff hired Lynn Huston...need I say more?)
Ed Whelan? The guy had to go. Viewers didn't like him. He shoulda been cut years earlier. And yes, management feared the race, age, health issues. (and the reason you haven't heard Ed complaining probably has something to do with the fact that he got a big check and had to sign a little piece of paper)
Kacey? Yes, she's very attractive (and yes, people were skeptical before she got there) but she's done a helluva job. She's a really good reporter...don't get hung up on swimsuit photos...she's great looking, get over it.
Yeah, KOIN has gone thru some really bad times...but don't confuse the ineptitude of owners and key managers with the competency and quality of the people working in the trenches. KOIN still has really good people working there.
Jeff Alan was a disaster...and he's just trying to make a fast buck.
Hey Jeff, good thing I wasn't your boss...I told Marty (and Chris) to fire your ass long before you finally got the boot.
Shame on you for dragging the names of other former employees into your lawsuit mess. You're showing your true colors once again.

Go write another book.
