Definitely a webby zeitgeist out there, as Portland's favorite business paper named after a sandwich announces web changes of its own:
Beginning Monday, July 24, the Portland Business Journal will begin rolling out a strategy that will enable its print subscribers to view all news and feature copy of the current print edition on the newspaper's Web site.
Until now, only a limited amount of content from the print edition has been posted on line, said Publisher Craig Wessel, and the decision to make virtually all content immediately available was made to further enhance the value of subscribing to the Portland Business Journal. ...
Wessel noted that only print edition subscribers will have immediate access to any print edition content, and will be asked to go through a quick online registration process to participate. ...
The current content will not be made available to non-subscribers for 30 days after publication, Wessel said. Non-subscribers will be able to view only the headline and first paragraph of print edition stories.
All visitors to the Business Journal site will continue to be able to access Web-only content such as daily local business news, Industry Journals, Entrepreneur, Sales Power and other regular features, Wessel said. Non-print subscribers also will be able to continue to search online archives and to receive all e-mail products such as Daily Updates, which are delivered every business day with headlines of latest Web stories from the Portland Business Journal's news staff.
