Ex-OMI Watch: Rick Howard Returns

Submitted by LynnS on Mon, 04/23/2007 - 9:15am.

Here's an interesting tidbit from this morning's TV Spy ShopTalk: Former KOIN ND Rick Howard has resigned his ND position at WTVR-TV in Richmond, VA and is "return[ing] to Oregon." No further explanation than that--retirement? What?

Hmmmm.

Found this on a website in Richmond: "Raycom's "CBS6" WTVR Richmond has lost its News Director as Rick Howard exited the station this past Friday (4/20). Sources say Howard had no other alternative but to resign. Raycom suits came into town last week and "persuaded" Howard to resign. We hear he will return to his homestate of Oregon."

bumping the thread here instead of creating a new thread, so everyone has a little background...

Rick Howard has been hired as KDRV's next news director in Medford. He replaces Mark Hatfield, who accepted the General Manager position at KDRV's sister station in Eugene, KEZI.

Still no word yet on who will take over as KEZI's News Director. The station hoped to have a new ND hired by July 4th.

Are the golf courses down there nice enough to keep Rick interested in Southern Oregon?
