Does Lars Cater to Ilegal Aliens?

Submitted by LynnS on Thu, 07/12/2007 - 1:45pm.

KATU says, "Mmmm, could be."

Quick and dirty: There's a Spanish language translation option on the streaming media section of Lars' website. Larson himself wasn't aware of it, and I bet it's gotten rid of toot sweet. yes, i know how to spell "toute suite." sheesh.

How does Lars sleep at night, being such a racist pig. Seriously folks, it's news in Spanish. GET OVER IT. Fisher is going to make a killing on that show!

He doesn't. He sucks blood at night.

During the day his tape-recorded foolishness goes out over the airwaves while he sleeps in a bed of soil and curds from Tillamook.

It really is too bad there are so few Spansih speaking reporters in the Portland market... pathetic! The Latino population is under represented and it makes me sick to see white people dominating the airwaves to such an extreme. Are there any Latino or black new-directors or executive producers in the entire market? Great that Fisher is making the move to go Spanish... too bad the market is still racist.

I worked with Lars many years ago, briefly, when he first started at KXL... I am no longer in the business in Portland, but am not surprised to see that the man is STILL an idiot.

Pretty sad when you're considered a racist for wanting to enforce the laws of the land. Illegal is ILLEGAL.

I think that the problem is the way he says it. I'm really trying to figure out what is so hard about this: if you break the law to get into this country then you have broken the law.

It's pretty sad when people are unable to understand or accept the fact that illegal is illegal and have to resort to attacking someone's personal views in their attempt to divert attention away from the illegal acts.

The fact is that Lars does not "enforce" the laws. He is just an everyday Joe who has access to a microphone. Nothing else. However, he is coat-tailing on an emotional political topic with the goal of getting his radio ratings up.

Really, people such as Larson know that they can't do anything about immigration--legal or not. Men like him fear the passing of the "Leave it to Beaver"-life style and therefore, shock radio will use the "legality" angle as the issue to cover for their actual, deep feelings about others who don’t look like them.

The “illegals”—and let’s not forget these are living humans that we often reduced to statistics and numbers and sub-human criminals… like the Irish and Italians before them—would not be here if the many mom-n-pops and Corporate America had not given them the opportunity to tag-team others to sneak across the border.

But really, 12 million (!!!)… undocumented. Wow! Someone really did not want to stop the flow!. Cheap labor, what can we say?

Nonetheless, if Larson were to say publicly that it's about race and racism; it would be a hard sell to most of his listening audience since we went through that during the 1960s. The American mainstream would turn their backs to relatively unknowns as Lars or better known TV people such as Buchanan and O'Reiley simply because it would now be an extremist view. So, the topic must be kept at the "legal" debate level in order to accrue fellowship for the ultra-right.

However, these very same right-wingers will in the not too far future be begging all the Mexicans to move over to the US once they figure out that the Social Security system will need many more people on the payroll in order to keep the retirement system going. We, white Americans, are currently NOT reproducing enough to fill in the Baby Boomers retirement tsunami that is about to happen. Never mind Al Quaeda… we will do ourselves in if we don’t fix this er… YESTERDAY!!!

So yes, it will be immigration that will bail us out in the end.

So Lars and gang can't do anything about it even if there was a Nazi-styled massive deportation of millions of humans tomorrow. We need this labor pool... and at the going rate of the Graying of America, well, we need more immigrants en mass NOW!

But at the core of all this bitter immigration debate is this: In order for this country to survive, we will need immigrants. And in the process we will need to address our tradicional definition of what is to be an American... and who is an American. Will it be the endeared Aryan or will he/she be of a darker, mixed nature?

Some don't want a new social definition.

And this is what is pissing the right-wing off. Their mirror image is about to disappear. Their power hold will remain but will not be the same as it has been enjoyed for over two centuries. And worst off for this ultries, they can't do anything about preserving their supposed Norman Rockwell past. Demographics, history and the Social Security vacuum has sworn to do them in!

(PS I had to use Rockwell... but really, I love his stuff!)

Racist is deciding that because there are illegals here in Oregon, that every Spanish speaking person is here illegally. Racist and ignorant.

Illegal definitely is illegal, however, everyone who speaks the same language are not all illegal.

I know that all kinds of languages are spoken in this country by our citizens.

That's the scary part. I think more people listen then we would really like to believe. Based on what I've heard listening to him (for work only) lots of people agree with the creep.
GO KATU.

Lars is now turning his hate toward the reporter, ripping her up all over his show. That stinks that KATU made her do the story and essentially hung her out to dry. The GM or News Director should have done the story, so they could take the fall on his show.

Submitted by bigboy on Fri, 07/13/2007 - 4:30pm.

I'm sure Anita K. and KATU knew full well that Lars would rip into them. Lars is not going to just give someone a pass after making him look stupid on air (and wow, did he ever look stupid).

Many people are in Oregon legally but Spanish is their first language. Don't be dumb.

That these people are taking jobs from other u.s. citizens. Then when they have kids and start taking benifits that rightfully belong to u.s. citizens. If you want to be a "LEGAL" citizen go through the frickin steps to get a REAL ssn. I agree with Lars on 99.5 percent.
I just think people are bothered because he speaks the truth and also what is on his mind. Its called free speach.

You make the case opposite yours better than I could.

Submitted by Anonymous Source (not verified) on Tue, 07/17/2007 - 1:07pm.

Theoretically speaking and in a perfect world, what you say should happen.

In the real world, however, you, me and anyone who is human, would go around any burocratic walls to feed your family right away... or would you not? In a perfect world, you would get a REAL SS number. In a human world, however, the US gov is very selective and most people in the world who are illegal immigrants here would not qualify for one.

And really, Lars speaking the truth... well, his truth. Being loud does not mean you are right. And certainly not a universal truth. The fact that he has a radio show should not cause you to be starstruck.

And clearly--and I really wonder why the hell you bring it up--he does have freedom of speach. That's why we know of his comments... dah!

By the way... have you read the comment about the Social Security crisis noted above? Have you? And do you have answers on how to fix the SS crisis? Please don't be silent now... you have freedom of speech, remember?

It's easy to criticize or follow the bandwaggon. It's a different story if you can actually come up with REAL answers that part from dumb-ass Wrestling Mania talk.

Why do people who disagree with Lars always end up with name calling? Just state your case. That said, I've heard the comment several times that people are just trying to feed their families, does this make it o.k.? So if I sell meth to your kid to feed my family, is that o.k.? What other laws am I able to break as long as I am feeding my family. If you want open borders that allow anyone in, change the law. If you want amnesty for the illegals here, convince the 78% of Americans who are against amnesty (according to Rasmussen Reports - June 2007) that they are wrong. As far as SS is concerned, don't justify something illegal to save it.

Submitted by Anonymous Source (not verified) on Thu, 07/19/2007 - 4:22pm.

Selling meth and feeding your family... wow... now that is a weird analogy... real off the radar.

However, you did not answer the question: if your family was starving and it was up to you to do something about it, would you jump the border?

Answer the question. Answer the SS question noted above, too. WHAT would YOU DO? Don't answer my question with a question, cop out?

Lars is such a pompous twit- rather like the loverly Rush Limbaugh and the very beguiling Glenn Beck. And we must not forget the king of pompous buffoonery Bill O'Reilly. The really sad part is the fact that they all have large audiences. What are people thinking?

Larson's attacks on the brown-skinned people is akin to shouting fire in a crowded theater. He seems to equate their illegal status with murder or worse. Entering this country illegally is hardly more serious than speeding. With speeding you get a ticket, with illegal entry you get a ride back to Mexico and the white folks are left with having to do the dirty work — which they refuse to do.

This, friend, is a pet peeve of mine -- nothing to do with Lars or immigration.

Shouting fire in a crowded theater is absolutely the right thing to do if the theater is on fire.

What Oliver Wendell Holmes said wasn't a form of protected speech was "FALSELY shouting fire" in a crowded theater.

All the difference in the world.

Anyhow, Lars is a twit. Carry on.

Haven't heard that blow hard in years. I did see the KATU story and fell off my chair laughing. What an idiot!
