In what may seem a minor point to some, about a week and a half back on my own personal blog (The Zehnkatzen Times), I (meekly and respectably) pointed out how the KVAL on-screen graphics for their lead stories had a minor yet quite arresting error to them.
The graphics, which were presumably supposed to read out "First at 6" or "First at 11" were typeset to read "First @ at 6" and "First @ at 11"-with both the "commercial-at" symbol as well as the actual word "at".
It's my pleasure to announce that, in my self appointed role as pipsqueak freelance graphic designer and typography and punctuation policeman, that KVAL has fixed the problem–and, what's important, the solution has actually more punch: I think "First @ 11:00pm" simply looks better than the first solution might have even if it had been set without the redundancy.
It's important to get this kind of thing right, IMHO. While not everybody calls themselves "designer" (or even fancies themselves typography geeks) I believe everyone notices such a thing on the subconcious level. When something scans funny, it scans funny.
Whoever does KVAL's Vanna box deserves credit and kudos for straightening this one out. And that's sincere!

They should hire you. I'm sure they'd be happy to let you work for free. :)
