I enjoy Jennifer Iveson's reporting -- I wish her well.

I remember a cute moment in her early days when she was reporting live from the streets and referred to falling snow as a "blizzard." The anchors chuckled and said to the viewers "errrm, she's just here from Arizona."

It was a nice moment.

I think Jennifer Iveson does a really credible job on the noon program at KGW. Hope everything works out well for her.

I remember Heartquist from the Medford station when I lived down there. Let's just say she'll never be accused of being too intellectual.

I like Jennifer a lot and think she's a great reporter. Too bad KGW couldn't (didn't) find a replacement as good as she is. Good luck Jennifer.

I think the negative statements being left on here are really unnecessary. The only thing being dumbed down is this blog for certain individuals leaving tacky comments. It definatley sounds like sour grapes to me too!

Erica is a great reporter and she'll be sorely missed in Arizona.

To those saying she's awful, why would CNN pick up her story if she was that awful? Sounds like you have some other issues with her.

I see no sexist comments. No one has stated she "got the job because of her looks", (as was the case with the hire that beat her out of the first round, Ms. Cook.)

It's nice to see her friends rally to her support. But there are several other Medford alums in town. Ask them if they would describe her as a "smart" reporter.

I'm sure Ms. Heartquist will do well, and my comments were not meant to be personal (though granted how could they not be taken that way). It just seems, as is the case with our political candidates, that we could do better in a market like Portland.

A couple of the other posts have sparked my interest...is there an acquaintance of Ms. Heartquist out there who could provide more insight??

I must say for someone who apparently is not thrilled with this new reporter coming to Portland, you seem to monitor her career very close. To actually go to her current station website and paste links to her stories seems like a lot of work for someone that is just a concerned Portland news viewer. It seems very personal and a bit creepy. Be careful Ms. Heartquist, you could have a stalker on your hands.

is completely off base. Think twice about throwing around such a weighty and legal term as "stalker" in the future.

And since when does following a persons career and linking a story on an open and public site to prove a point equate to stalking? What a bogus and hypersensitive claim to make.

We have talent here in Spokane that have personal blogs and friggin' My Space pages...you can also chat with them online during commercial breaks if'n you wanted to! It's all transparent in this glorious cyber-world we live in. Grow up.

what does Haertquist have her own staff of bloggers? I remember her being the "perky morning weather girl" in Med. Now she's a reporter in the state's largest market. She has less experience than many others in Portland and should expect some scrutiny. Everyone has a right to his or her own opinions, and to express them.

Good for her, but yes it makes me wonder too.

yeah anyone who would question talent like that must be crazy, right? It appears she left more friends in AZ than here. Get a thicker skin or move on.

Instead of worrying about how thick Ms. Hearquist's skin is maybe you should be concerned with how low your self esteem is. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, which you left in your first posting. However, when you have to come on this blog EVERY SINGLE DAY to continually attack someone, you prove the theory that people tear others down to make themselves feel better. Maybe you should do some self reflection and figure out why it is so important to you to do this...I think anyone who has read all of this knows it is not your concern for the integrity of the Portland news.

Grow up. This is getting really tiresome. I know what you are going to say: I don't have to read it and you are right. But still: I'm going to say it: grow up.

Now I am not a big fan of joining blogs, but I had to finally speak out and say how surprised I am at the lack of professionalism towards Ms. Heartquist. Ms. Heartquist has not even started at KGW and already she is receiving bad press (no pun intended). For those of you who berate her, yes you are entitled to your opinions, however I feel it would be more professional to welcome the new hiree and offer some help or advice for a successful career in a new market. Or say nothing at all. I am always disappointed when I see others in positions of power forget where they came from as if they think they are better than everyone else. You started at the bottom and worked your way up just as Ms. Heartquist has. You have endured much and struggled overcoming obstacles/challenges. But, does that make you better than the next person trying to do the same thing in the same market? I think not! Would it not be more advantageous to offer positive re-inforcement to ensure Ms. Heartquist's success? After all her success is your success. I feel better knowing I helped someone reach the top, than hold them down at the bottom. KGW would not have hired Ms. Heartquist if they did not feel she was more than qualified. Therefore, to KGW, I believe you made a wise choice and won't be disappointed. To Ms. Iveson, thank you for years of service to the news community and best of luck in your new endeavors. To Ms. Heartquist good luck in your new position. If there is anything I can impart on you for your success it would be my favorite quote by Thoreau, "He/She who advances confidently in the direction of his/her dreams and endeavors to live the life which he/she has imagined, will meet a success not expected in common hours." For those who want to berate me the choice is yours, but I do not forget where I came from.

Erica is leaving the end of March, and will start in April with KGW. I know Erica personally and she is a LOVELY person and has a true passion for reporting in a classy, tasteful way. Erica does have a myspace, and as far as I know, does socialize on the internet. She has so much talent, and I truly believe her finest pieces are yet to come. Love you Erica! Wish you the best! As a media consumer, Jennifer Iveson never positively impressed me with her reporting. On the other hand her ability to-speak-with-practically-no-breathing-for-almost-a-minute-and-regularly-repeat-herself-ad-nauseam-makes-me-wonder-how-she-ever-got-in-broadcasting.
