Jamie Kern (aka Jamie Lima) is leaving KPTV and the biz. Patrick's email:

It is with mixed emotion that I have to report that Jamie Lima is leaving Fox 12.

On the one hand, I am sad to see Jamie leave. Her energy and enthusiasm have been great additions to the team.

Her role in Saturday and Sunday Good Day Oregon has helped those shows grow to number one in almost every hour.

However, I must admit when Jamie told me why she is leaving, I can’t help but be happy for her.

Jamie is about to embark on the opportunity of a lifetime. She is launching her own business and I seriously suspect we will soon see her on national television. I will leave it to Jamie to explain her new endeavor but I would like to wish her the best of luck and thank her for her contributions to the station.

The 12er I talked with couldn't tell me what Jamie will be doing, so I hope she lets us know when the time comes.

Jamie will be missed not only at KPTV but in the biz in general. I know she'll tackle this next chapter of her life with the same tenacity as her news career.

I can't think of a kinder more respectful person to work with. Good luck with your future endeavors Jamie!

Jamie,

As the proud owner of my own business for the past 13 years, I can easily say that you will work harder than you've ever worked before. But, you will also get massive amounts of personal gratification in return. That's the biggest perk.

The best of luck with your new business venture!

This email was sent to the newsroom from Jamie today.

It is difficult to believe more than two years have passed since I accepted a position at KPTV. While I will miss many parts of the news experience, I am very excited to begin a new venture as the co-founder and CEO of a cosmetics line. My last day at KPTV will be next Saturday February 23rd. I will continue to technically stay on board the team as a freelance anchor/reporter so this is not a forever goodbye.

I do have few words to share before I leave:

First to Patrick McCreery. Thank you for believing in me from the beginning. While some of our “big picture” ideas didn’t come to fruition, I believe God is in control and things have worked out as they should, in his perfect will. Thank you for always having an open door and ear. I look forward to a continued professional relationship and more importantly, a continued friendship.

Next to my GDO Crew (weekends and weekdays): I will MISS YOU like crazy! Jakers and Zirkle thanks for being a reason to actually look forward to coming in to work at 1:00 am. Sara G., Brian, Ian, Chad, Andy, Tony, Dan, Jenelle, Steph, Julie (in audio), Rebecca, Ashley, James, Kelsey, Marilyn, Mike Monroe, Jeff, Drew, the “Info Babes” thanks for the fun memories including rum cake (with extra rum), plumbers on toilets (who put all that brown stuff there?), Friday lunches and toy gun wars.

Shauna, Wayne, Kim, Pete and Kevin – I remember coming in as a new anchor wondering how “diva-ish” you guys would be. I have been blown away by your kindness and willingness to embrace me and take me under your wing for whatever reason it may be. Thank you for making me feel right at home from the beginning.

Two Special People I want to specifically thank – Pete Ferryman and Sophie Soong.

Pete – thank you for being an amazing partner on the anchor desk and more than that, a caring person. You are always the one to say “hello, how are you” with sincerity and you say it to everyone, no matter their status at the station. Your talent as an anchor is obvious, but one thing you learn only by anchoring with you is how great of a partner you are. You never have an ego and you have always been so warm, welcoming and embracing. For the past two years, many of my highlights at the station were days I got to fill-in with you. You are the quintessential newsroom leader.

Sophie – my partner in prayer. You are one of the most naturally talented on-air people I have met. You have been such a pleasure and gift to have as a team member for the past several months. Our station is so lucky to have you! Your talent is insane and don’t let anyone ever underestimate it. The sky is the limit for you girl!

Thanks again for a fun two years and please keep in touch. I have included my personal contact info below.

XOXO,
Jamie Kern Lima

Jamie-
You have always treated people the way you would want to be treated. I was lucky to have worked with you. You'll be missed. Go get em!

Have not heard much about the February book. I'm really surprised by this! Usually KPTV is usually talking trash at this point in the book. This February they've been as quiet as church mice. Could that be because they are getting beaten by KGW? My quess is they won't be parking a live truck with a victory banner drapped across it across the street from 1501 SW Jefferson.

Is the biggest difference between the 2 stations. KGW would never do anything like that.. no matter how sweet the victory. You probably won't hear much about the Feb. ratings here. It's just not their style over on Jefferson.

Wow. The Jefferson Street gang is STILL whining about the Leaky Roof stunt last spring?

Jeez, you'd think they'd get over it eventually.

HA!

That stunt was discussed more here than it was in the KGW newsroom. Personally, I laughed because it was soooooooooo pathetic. Now look where you are Patrick. Karma's a bitch, ain't it?

Maybe they can drape the banner across their live traffic helecopter parked on the tarmack at Hillsboro airport

Quite possibly the tackiest victory party ever staged -probably only outdone by a middle school wrestling team or a Gresham tavern softball league. Go Dirty Tankard Inn!
