Otherwise traditionally known as the Bad Green Beer Edition. Now the oldest Nutling has this thing and she's miserable. I'm feeling much better but still tire too easily and am coughing way too much still. bleh.

I hope you guys are all well, at least.

Is Better TV being syndicated to all markets this fall?

What ever happened to former KOIN anchor Shirley Hancock? Did she end up suing KOIN after she was let go? If she did, did she win? Where is she now?

Also, what happened to Elaine Murphy? I believe that she worked at KOIN and KATU. I watched Ms. Murphy anchor when she was in Spokane and she was great. What is she doing these days? Still in News? Still in PDX?

I watch a good deal of television and I must say that BETTER on KPTV is really awful television. Some on this blog have been critical of AM Northwest on KATU, but at least it contains a high degree of local flavor -- which is a serious problem for BETTER. Watching BETTER is like listening to fingernails on a chalkboard. It’s worse than the 700 Club (no offense to Pat Robertson fans) or that dreadful FOX News production Mornings with Mike and Juliet. If Meredith wants to syndicate BETTER, it desperately needs to jazz it up. In its current configuration, I can’t imagine any respectable television station manager buying this program – unless of course it’s a Meredith station.

When BETTER was MORE, it wasn’t bad viewing. Kim and Andy enjoyed good chemistry – and the various segments could be digestible in small bites. The focus was local and timely. The MORE set however was unappealing (I like a good, well crafted set).

KPTV should consider adding another hour of local news to its morning line-up. 4:30am – 10am would be fine by me. If Today on NBC can broadcast for 4 hours, two of which are fluff/lifestyle fare, then KPTV could offer an extra hour of hard news, weather, traffic and dose of Joe V as an alternative.

I must admit that I like Dave Anderson on AM Northwest. Now I don’t watch the program much, but I do enjoy him on the radio (1190 KEX – The Mark and Dave Show). Helen is fine, just another in a string of AM Northwest co-hosts. In terms of recent past hosts, I do think Paul Linnman and Cathy Marshall made a good pair. They had good chemistry.

Can someone educate me as to why CBS News on Saturday contains only direct response TV spots? (This is not new.) Can the network not sell it? Is national carriage too low? Is KOIN supposed to be selling some local spots and isn't able to?

The ads are so bad (from a quality standpoint) that it's jarring.
