What's up with this new weather gal at KGW?
( topics: KGW-TV )
With Paul's assistance, perhaps Mary Loos will be able to understand the differences between what consitutes a problem vs an issue. Ever since she referred to Katrina causing 'issues', rather than 'problems', I knew there was a problem with her ability. She's young and with proper guidance may still be an acceptable, though minimal performer. She's been working at NWCN for a while, last I remember. Here's her bio information: http://www.nwcn.com/about/bios/stories/NWCNbios-Loos.1815916a0.html This may help you a little bit of who she is: Ms. Loos has apparently joined the staff of KGW as a fill in meteorologist. Hey, they already have four weather folks, yes? I don't understand the need for a fifth. Viewer Rick This afternoon, I saw a major blunder on KPTV's 4 o'clock news. The report centered on the acquittal of a Lake Oswego swimming coach, Don King on sex abuse charges. King was found NOT GUILTY of sex abuse charges. But when the anchor introduced the piece on the King acquittal, KPTV showed a picture of boxing promoter Don King – the wrong Don King. Someone at KPTV really screwed up. I think they owe Don King the boxing promoter an apology. Mary Loos. Fresh from her duties over at NWCN. So NWCN has lost Mary Loos and Rebecca Stevenson in one fell swoop...who's doin' the seven day at NWCN now? Just as an aside, how did you get that clear screen capture? I don't like her delivery. It's very monotone and cold. From what I have heard of her on KEX, she hasn't added much there either. She's about as dry as toast. Is that a ring on her finger? Is she replacing someone at KGW? Just curious, since I thought KGW had enough folks to do weather! Viewer Rick of our business? I'm an on-air anchor here in Portland and when I get a large zit or cut on my face, I figure that's always ammunition for speculation. If you don't want people wondering about your private life, clothing you wear, or annoying habits, don't get on TV. Just relax. If she has a ring people want to know what's up with it. well i myself know when an anchor started wearing her wardrobe a little different,I was wondering if she was expecting..I emailed and asked..that night,i watched and they were showing pics of the fetus I caught her first show on KGW and thought she did a great job. Not sure where Mr/.Ms anonymous got the "cold and monotonous" from -- she seemed friendly enough and knew what she was talking about, and is cute too. Waaaay cuter than some of 8s other weather folk. Always happy to see a talented woman in front of (or behind) the camera. I think she does fine on TV (although the folks on this thread seem to agree with the poster above: http://www.oregonmediainsiders.com/node/157#comment-89301). She kinda falls flat for me on KEX. At least Marie Dodds was always full of zingers and very up on pop culture. Believe it or not, some people in this business have feelings and actually think about what they are reading. I've never been able to figure out the rotation of news stories. Is it on a pre-determined taped loop? On days when I am trying to keep up on a story, I see the exact same sequence of stories. Until recently, she (Mary Loos) worked as a weathercaster/entertainment reporter at Northwest Cable News in Seattle. According to what I'v read recently, she will be joining Paul Linnman on the Morning Update -- weekday mornings on 1190am KEX.
