OregonLive.com has recieved a "C" grade from 24/7 Wall Street. The survey praised its home page but disliked most other parts of the site. [OregonLive.com] has one of the best homepages in the survey. Almost anything the reader would like to find in the paper is in an index which makes up the first page of the website. Articles are arranged by section. It is a remarkable example of what a good designer can do to help readers.
Thoughts? ( topics: Oregonian )
There are so little photos on story pages and the mix between layouts and designs is annoying and unprofessional. Why doesn't Advance just change the whole site over to the new design? As a consumer of news on the internet, I don't find the Oregonlive.com site a particularly interesting read. Why, I'm not really certain, but I’m sure esthetics plays a role. I'd much rather read the Seattle Times, Seattle P-I, Washington Post and the Portland Tribune website. I especially like the Washington Post and Portland Tribune websites because it's easy to drop in a comment on both after reading a story. Post new comment |
