I served on the credit union board with Marilyn for many years at KOIN. She was very outgoing, upbeat, seemed younger than her age, and enjoyed poking a bit of fun at some of the goofy things that happened in the TV station. I worked with Ric Eljin at KXYI and he was REALLY one helluva nice guy as well as a real pro. That was a very special time in Portland radio media long before Craig's red sweater on KGW. :) A memorial service for Richard D. Liljenberg III (Ric Eljin) will be at 11am Wednesday, July 9, at Canby United Methodist Church, 1520 N. Holly St., Canby. (from The Hillsboro Argus) Less noticed, but no less sad, was last week's passing of freelancer Jean Wenzel, a regular contributor to Willamette Week in the 1990s. She also wrote for the old Downtowner, taught writing at PCC and produced a health show for KBOO. Post new comment |

I never had the pleasure of knowing Rick, but Marilyn was a continuous highlight during my tenure at KOIN-TV. She was funny and fun and I know many of Marilyn's former coworkers will mourn this loss. I'll say a prayer for her family.
