KATU: New weekend weather guy?

Submitted by Eric M on Sat, 08/09/2008 - 8:16am.

Somehow, I missed the announcement of the arrival of Carlos Faura, whom I'm watching on KATU news this morning. Not sure what I think. I think I still miss Julia, but I know we must live in the 'now.'

Watching Carlos gesture toward the blank screen behind him, he doesn't yet seem to fit in at KATU yet. Maybe he's still getting used to the geography of the state... it seems references to cities are being read off a prompter, and he doesn't really know where a lot of these places are.

But you have to start somewhere, right? Right.

So you're the one who watches KATU on weekend mornings. I always wondered who their one viewer was. Thanks Eric!

But I'll give him a chance. I do like Rod though. When he does the weather he does it like no one else in town. He really gets in to the weather.

Rod is great with the weather, I agree. In fact, I think Portland has a number of good weather folks, Mark Nelson, Zaffino, Salesky, Shelby all come to mind.

I confess, it was Aimee Clark who got me interested in KATU on Saturday mornings. I mean, really. She was so bad, that it was good. Julia Radlick certainly helped brighten all our spirits.

Now it's out of habit, but since we now have a 1 year old, the 8 am slot now usually is filled in our house by Cake TV on KOIN, or an I Love Lucy rerun on TV Land.

There was a previous 7/10 post by Nicole about the new KATU weather guy Carlos Faura.
The comments included in the post were kind of accusatory
and rude.
BUT! Part of one of the comments was a reference to "Randy"
Who's that?
AND- the question of the day is--How tall is Rod Hill, the head weather guy at KATU? Someone in another post on this site referred to Rod as "tiny".

I estimate Rod Hill to be 5'7", not quite "tiny", but not statuesque.

Accusatory? I think not! Listen carefully. I really don't care how it comes off, but it's an observation of diction nonetheless.

Randy Queerin.

Rod Hill is 5'4" with dress shoes.

Actually, Rod is 7'2" but kneels down during most of his segment.

Re: Just The Facts post:
Mr. QUERIN does not appreciate seeing your version of his last name!
It's not nice to fool Mother Nature or Mother Blogosphere!
And:
Thanks to the second post for the update on Mr Hill's height.
Enquiring minds just want to know!!!
