KATU news at 10?

I was fliping through channels around 10:55 pm on September 20th and saw on my satellite info on the screen "Channel 2 News at 10"

What was the deal with that? Was KATU testing a new 10pm news cast out?

Yes, on weekends.

KATU's 10pm newscast will only air Saturday nights, and only during college football season.

ABC's Saturday night programming this fall is "Saturday Night Football", and it airs live from 8-11:30pm on the east coast. On the west coast, that's 5-8:30pm. Local affiliates out west (including KATU) must fill all time slots after 8:30pm with their own programming... and KATU has chosen to fill the 10-11pm slot with News.

All told, KATU hasn't really expanded their newscast offering... rather, the new 10pm hour offsets the two half-hours lost at 5pm and 6pm each Saturday.

The "regular" Saturday night programming schedule will resume in December once college football season is finished.

I noticed via KOMO's web site that they were running Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune during this time instead of expanding their late news. Any idea why KATU went the route they've gone?

mostly Jeopardy and Whell would be re-runs on weekends. Why not fill it with somethging

though I remember in the past KATU filled it in with a movie... "KATU saturday night at the movies" or something . It was a while back.....

They could have brought back town hall
