It's sad when the best KOIN can do for their lead story at noon is report on the robbery of a local credit union. Mike Donahue anchored the noon show and tossed to Tim Gordon who reported live from the scene of this not-worth-your-time-non-news-story.
What's so absurd and ridiculous about this live shot is the admonition by Donahue for local residents to 'lock their doors.' Come again? What we also learn is the suspect in the robbery never showed a weapon and proferred the no doubt freightened teller a note demanding cash. Well, at least we got a nice shot of a K9 on scene no doubt hunting down the scent of the suspect. Perhaps KOIN can borrow the dog so the inept newsroom staff can sniff down the scent of some real news. Seriously, is anyone paying attention? Does anyone care at this station? Guess not; and here's the 'kicker' - the viewers don't either.
Here's the story right off KOIN's website: "VANCOUVER, Wash. - A bank robber is on the loose after hitting a Lacamas Community Credit Union branch Monday in Vancouver. About 9 a.m., a man handed over a note and got away with cash from the bank at Southeast 192nd Avenue and 31st. Witnesses say he ran southeast on foot. Vancouver police converged on the area, which includes businesses and homes in a nearby neighborhood. A police dog joined the search, but the man was not located. The suspect is described a white man about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was wearing a teal jacket, tan pants, a black stocking cap, a plaid scarf and a bandage on his nose. If you see anyone matching that description, call 911."

But more impotantly, there was a robber on the loose, cordoned off areas, and even if you don't care, folks in Camas are curious about wht's going on. You think your issues are the only ones important?
That's what kills me here, certainly there is plenty of room to complain and criticize news coverage, but the nasty vehemousnous of it sometimes bewilders me. Take a chill pill, you're going to have a heart attack.
