KATU: Corinna Allen Out, Thanh Tan In

After several years of devoted service to KATU news and to AM Northwest, Corinna Allen has accepted a position as an entertainment reporter at WGCL-TV, the CBS station in Atlanta. I understand her first assignment is March Madness. Please join me in thanking Corinna for all she has done for KATU over the years, and congratulating her on her new adventure.

Thanh Tan is the newest reporter joining the KATU team. Thanh is currently working at our sister station in Boise. Her first day will be March 12.

Congrats to Allen for snagging the kind of job she wanted, and to Tan for jumping up-market.

WGCL is a Meredith/Sister station to KPTV as well. Stephanie Fisher, who use to anchor the 10pm KPDX newscast is an anchor there.

Really, Boise? I checked her Bio and let's just say she is YOUNG. What happened to paying your dues? I know lots of great reporters with close to 10 years experience that would give anything to be in Portland. TV news ain't fair.

I went to Tan's bio, and I wasn't struck so much by her as I was by the site. It's a complete clone of KATU's. Even the same "2" logo.

He works up in Seattle... last I checked, the managers of each Fisher affiliate still hire who they want. So this has the fingerprints of Don Pratt, not Troy McGuire. McGuire may oversee the future "BIG Picture" of KATU, and the rest of the Fisher newsrooms... but who we hire is still our business. But thanks!

Troy is running the show at KBCI in Boise. New branding, new graphics, new set, new weather people, new "sex offender alert" segment (sound familiar Fox12ers?).

Than is a great reporter - and won't be over her head in PDX. But the commenter at 1:57pm is wrong -- this is Troy's call, not KATU's...

Last I checked, Troy was hired to oversee and develop the Fisher Broadcasting Newsrooms. Yvonne Simons was hired as the News Director in Boise. Is Yvonne a "lame duck puppet"? How much control is Troy exerting? From KATU's position, it aint much. Maybe Boise is different.

I worked with her and, let me tell you, she'll do a great job in Portland. The only problem is that she's an investigative/issue reporter and KATU seems to be focused on the crime of the day now.

It seems that no matter what the personality, there are a least a couple of people that come on here to hate on them.

In the few times that I was around Corinna, she was gracious, lovely, fun, and in command of the room. I hope that she finds much success in Atlanta.

dated her and every time we were all around her it was so strange. She touches everyone constantly and made us all very uncomfortable. That, and she always laughed at her own "jokes" and clapped her hands wildly. Just bizarre.

I saw a couple of her live shots on katu and it was pretty bad. Just not professional at all. Wondering what they'll find for her to do in Atlanta? She's just not a good reporter.
